Why donate to Friends?  

  1. Accountability - Friends funds only Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS) programs that directly relate to improving the lives of shelter animals and enhances their adoptability. Donors can clearly see where their money is spent.

  2. Friends is a volunteer organization.  Donations are never used to pay salaries.

  3. Flexibility - Donations from Friends enable the county animal shelter to be more flexible in creating new programs that can impact animal lives more quickly than waiting to go through yearly county budgeting process.  It also gives MCAS the ability to try a new program and prove it, then use that proof to gain continued county support.
